MICROPROCESSOR CONTROLLERS FOR ACCESS CONTROL APPLICATION
The MAGi-2 Card access controllers are our next Generation of access controllers. It is built with the latest of technology from Texas Instruments, the MSP430 series of micro-controllers. It is built to meet the ever increasing demand for a cost effective, reliable and feature packed card access controller. Microprocessor based applications, in almost every field, has become packed with user-friendly features. Security is of no exception. This puts greater demand on the speed and reliability of communications and on larger and faster memories. The MSP430 processor was chosen with these in our minds. The feature of the processor permits us to reduce component count and therefore increase reliability. SMT (Surface Mount Technology) is used for circuit board layout to reduce RF emission. Processor speed has been doubled from conventional processors to 8 MHz clock (4MHz Bus speed). Furthermore, the MAGi-2 supports communications speeds up to 4800 baud that is double from the 2400 baud on most card access control of its class. Reliability is achieved via the use of industry standard RS422 for communications which has a high noise immunity characteristic. What
is more, the MAGi-2 can be networked with the other MAG series family and be
driven from the MicroPlus software. A budget MicroPlus Lite is available just
for systems with a maximum of 16 MAGi-2 installed.
Note:
Specifications can change without prior notice The MAGi-2 will use any
readers with a Wiegand interface of 16 to 42 bits. However, because of the
varied number of protocols that can exist on those readers, please submit your
enquires via your dealers to us to confirm if the devices with these attachments
can be used.
The MAGi-2 can be integrated
together to form a system that extends to cover the entire installation. The
software package that does this is the IES MicroPlus software. At the entry
level, MicroPlus Lite allows for either a 16 controller budget system consisting
of only MAGI-2. Other versions of MicroPlus allow the MAGi-2 to be mixed with
other MAG series equipment to form a 64 controller system depending on the type
of communications hardware that is used. MicroPlus versions that allow
controller configurations of 64,000 controllers are available on request only. This
means that expansion from 16 to 64 does not require any messy software upgrade
or change. At the mid-end, 512 MAG-X controllers can be networked together. At
the very maximum, 64000 MAG-X controllers can be networked together. The
network utilizes industry standards like RS422 and LAN (802.3), TCP/IP
communications protocol. By using the LAN/WAN technology, geographical barriers
does exist. Access controllers can be located half-way round the world and yet
be online without problems.
In
the extended systems configuration, the MAGi-2 can work together with other
families of equipment. For example, the Digital Field Panels from IES are alarm
monitoring devices and can be networked together with the MAGi-2, on the same
bus if necessary. Together with the powerful MicroPlus software, a sophisticated
system which serves the full security solution of most installations, can be
constructed. This includes a seamlessly integrated system to print and produce
badges with the MicroPlus Badgemaker Software. For
the full description of the MicroPlus environment, please consult the MicroPlus
brochure. |
